Local Group Promotes Citizen Journalism Workshops

A local community organization is hosting a series of workshops aimed at promoting citizen journalism. Starting on January 10, 2026, these sessions will take place at the Downtown Community Center, encouraging residents to engage in news reporting and storytelling relevant to their neighborhoods.

The workshops will cover fundamental skills such as researching, writing, and multimedia production. Participants can expect to learn how to effectively share local stories and issues through various platforms. The initiative aims to empower citizens to become active contributors to local media.

Organized by the Community Media Coalition, the series is supported by local businesses and media professionals who will provide expertise and guidance. Their goal is to enhance the capacity of community members to report on events and issues affecting their lives.

Historically, citizen journalism has played a crucial role in amplifying voices that might otherwise be overlooked by traditional media outlets. This program aims to strengthen civic engagement and improve information flow in the community.

Residents interested in participating can register online through the Community Media Coalition’s website. The workshops are free, but space is limited, so early registration is encouraged.
